Description
Woodlawn Cemetery is located on the south side of Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio, with its entrance at 500 Pershing Road. Dedicated on June 8, 1853, it was established as a private cemetery by residents of Putnam, then a separate community. After Putnam was annexed to Zanesville in 1872, the city assumed responsibility for its care and operation. The cemetery has approximately 55,000 grave spaces and includes Soldier’s Circle, established in 1862, along with Veterans Memorial Gardens and its 1994 annex.
