Description

Ware-Joslyn Cemetery is located on Old Chesterfield Road in Chesterfield, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. Established on land given to Benjamin Joslyn in 1815, it was later expanded through a private cemetery association. The grounds contain about 150 stones recording 247 names, with documented death dates from 1815 through 1936. The older southwest, or Joslyn, section includes the grave of Reverend Abraham Wood, Chesterfield’s first minister, and that of Brevet Brigadier General Herbert B. Titus. The northeast section features the 1890 Ware Gateway and family plots associated with prominent nineteenth-century residents, including the Ezekiel Pierce family. From Chesterfield Center, the cemetery is reached by following Old Chesterfield Road east for approximately one-half mile; the town’s Cemetery Commission oversees its care.
