Description
Union Cemetery is located on the east side of East Main Road in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.
The cemetery was begun by the Portsmouth Christian Union Church, with burials recorded as early as 1802.
It was incorporated as a separate cemetery in May 1897.
The approximately 115-by-750-foot site has a level layout, stone-wall enclosure, Victorian gravestones, and elaborate cast-metal markers.
