Description

Traver Cemetery is located at Road 36 and Avenue 376 near Traver in Tulare County, California. Also known as Traver IOOF Cemetery, Pioneer Cemetery, and Potter’s Field, it was originally owned by the Dinuba Odd Fellows Lodge before being deeded to Tulare County in 1950. The first recorded burial dates to 1890, and the cemetery’s east side is identified with the Odd Fellows section. A newer western section opened in 1963 for indigent burials. Historical cemetery records indicate that full-body burials largely ended around 1906 and that later interments have been cremated remains. Burial information has been transcribed from sexton records, and countywide cemetery indexes may assist with family-history research.
