Description
Sunset Hill Cemetery is a non-denominational cemetery on Franklin Avenue in Clinton, Oneida County, New York, about one-half mile from the village green. Its landscape follows a master plan designed in 1856 by architect John C. Hastings, whose work also included projects at Cornell University and Hamilton College. The cemetery expanded to 67 acres after the Clinton Cemetery Association acquired an adjoining parcel in 1967. Features include rolling, tree-lined paths, a wrought-iron entrance arch, a red-brick chapel, and the Terrace of the Maples cremation section. In May 2015, the grounds added The Path, a walking area with a labyrinth intended for reflection. Traditional and cremation interments are offered, and the cemetery is open to the public from dawn to dusk; burial information is available from the superintendent.
