It is an Orthodox Jewish cemetery founded in 1901 by Congregation Tifereth Israel, one of the earliest Jewish congregations in the Kansas City area.
The cemetery expanded in 1935 with the purchase of 2½ additional acres.
It is owned and operated by Congregation Beth Israel Abraham & Voliner, which succeeded Tifereth Israel through congregational mergers.
