Description

Saint Bonaventure Cemetery is a Catholic cemetery in the Town of Allegany, Cattaraugus County, New York, near the Village of Allegany and St. Bonaventure University. It was established and consecrated in 1858 to replace the original St. Nicholas churchyard cemetery as the local Catholic community grew. The cemetery has longstanding Franciscan connections, with sections for Franciscan friars and sisters, and once included a mortuary chapel built between 1874 and 1877. Since 2003, it has operated as St. Bonaventure Cemetery Incorporated under the oversight of the New York State Cemetery Board and is open to all burials.
