Description
Outrath, Rath Uachter (meaning "upper rath") is the site of a destroyed ancient church, Teampall Ratha Uachtair. The traveling community holds burial rights here. A ruined medieval dwelling to the north of the cemetery is believed to have been the house of the Rothe family. The cemetery, triangular in shape, features an entrance gate and two stiles. Many tombstones are still readable, though some are face down or below the surface. Notable burials include Revd. Father Thadee Gready, who died in 1756, and the oldest tombstone found, dated 1710.
