Description
Melton Cemetery is in Fayette County, near Mason and the Braden community of West Tennessee. It is also identified as Fields Cemetery and is associated with the historic Fields/Melton community. In 1919, Frances Melton Fields donated one acre of land for a public cemetery after purchasing part of the former Melton plantation property in 1909. She and her husband, Edmond Fields, a farmer and founding minister of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, are buried there. The cemetery is part of a locally documented landscape that also includes the Braden-Sinai Rosenwald School and Mt. Sinai church history. Burial information may be available through Fayette County cemetery resources and regional genealogical records.
