Description

Highland Burial Park is a city-owned cemetery at 3049 North Main Street, near Piney Forest Road, in Danville, Virginia. Established in 1924, it received its first recorded burial on December 3 of that year. The original layout included land now occupied by the National Guard Armory; construction of North Main Street later reduced the cemetery’s planned area to approximately 70 acres. The City of Danville’s Public Works Department manages the cemetery and continues to provide burial services, sell plots, and maintain the grounds. Highland Burial Park is the burial place of Dan Daniel, a Danville textile executive, American Legion leader, Virginia legislator, and longtime member of the U.S. House of Representatives. The city provides a grave-finding service, and cemetery staff can assist with burial-lot purchases and genealogy requests. ([danvilleva.gov](https://danvilleva.gov/571/Cemeteries?utm_source=openai))
