Description

Haggardstown Old Graveyard dates back to the 1700s and features intricately carved headstones nearly 300 years old. The site was originally home to a monastery founded by Saint Fursey, the patron saint of Blackrock and Haggardstown, around 650 AD. The church remained in use until 1620, with the earliest headstone dating to 1729. A 17th/18th-century burial vault was discovered at the rear of the church in 1977.
