Description

The Former Union Workhouse Graveyard in Clondalkin, County Westmeath, Ireland, holds the remains of many individuals who died in the workhouse during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The workhouse, established during the Great Famine, was a place for the impoverished and destitute, and many of those buried here were victims of poverty, disease, and famine. The graveyard serves as a poignant reminder of Ireland’s challenging social history. Today, the site stands as a somber memorial to the hardships endured by the poor during this period.
