Description
Evergreen Cemetery is located at 610 Dundee Avenue in Barrington, between Hillside and Coolidge Avenues, in Barrington Township, Cook County, Illinois. The Evergreen Cemetery Association was organized in 1867 under Illinois’s 1855 cemetery law as a private, nonprofit cemetery owned and used by lot holders. ([evergreencemeteryassn.org](https://www.evergreencemeteryassn.org/?utm_source=openai)) The grounds now cover more than 33 acres, following a 1920 addition to the original five-acre tract. ([balibrary.org](https://balibrary.org/files/EvCemWalk.pdf?utm_source=openai)) It is independently operated, non-denominational, and open to burial arrangements for people of all faiths. ([evergreencemeteryassn.org](https://www.evergreencemeteryassn.org/?utm_source=openai)) Documented burials include Chicago Bears Hall of Fame linebacker Bill George and numerous Barrington civic and community leaders; local Civil War research also identifies veterans buried here. ([evergreencemeteryassn.org](https://www.evergreencemeteryassn.org/faqs/?utm_source=openai)) The cemetery remains open for burials, while the Barrington Area Library provides a grave map and alphabetical burial transcriptions useful for genealogical research.
