Ely Cemetery – Livingston – Essex County – United States

Ely Cemetery is a historic private family burial ground on the west side of Hillside Avenue, near Hillside Terrace and Route 10, in Livingston Township, Essex County, New Jersey.

Captain William Ely established it around 1777 on one rood, or one-quarter acre, of his farm.

The grounds contain graves of the Ely family and related local families, enclosed by a native-granite wall built in 1864.

The last interment was Janet Halsey Olstead in 1978, and the Livingston Historical Society serves as court-appointed trustee.
