Description
Elmwood Cemetery is a historic municipal cemetery at 700 West 6th Street in Uptown Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
Established in 1853 as a successor to Settlers’ Cemetery, it is operated by the City of Charlotte and forms part of the adjacent Elmwood/Pinewood cemetery complex.
The grounds contain notable funerary art, prominent Charlotte burials, and a Level I ArbNet-accredited arboretum; the original 25-acre cemetery is now part of a cemetery area exceeding 70 acres.
