Description

Dodd City Cemetery is located in Fannin County, Texas, approximately 1.8 miles east of Dodd City along State Highway 56. The cemetery began in 1842 when Major Edmund Hall Dodd donated land for the burial of his infant daughter, Frances J. Dodd, the first documented interment. ([txfannin.org](https://www.txfannin.org/cemetery/041/dodd-city-cemetery?utm_source=openai)) Additional acreage was added over time, including land associated with James L. Spelce and later sections developed in 1936, 1958, and 1984. The Dodd City Cemetery Association was organized on March 2, 1949, and continues to oversee the cemetery. ([txfannin.org](https://www.txfannin.org/cemetery/041/dodd-city-cemetery?utm_source=openai)) Burial research materials include cemetery photographs, obituary transcriptions, and death-certificate transcriptions maintained through local historical projects.
