Deerfield Cemetery – Lake County – United States

Deerfield Cemetery is located at the northwest corner of Waukegan Road and Central Avenue in Deerfield, Lake County, Illinois. Established in 1858 after the land was purchased from Philemon Cadwell, it is one of the area’s oldest cemeteries and contains graves of many early settlers. The cemetery includes approximately 15 Civil War veterans, along with veterans of the War of 1812, Black Hawk War, Spanish-American War, and both World Wars. It is protected under a perpetual charter, a distinction shared by only a few cemeteries in the United States. The Village of Deerfield has operated and maintained the cemetery since 1988, and the grounds are currently at full capacity.
