Description
Catskill Village Cemetery is located at the corner of Thomson and Spring Streets in the Village of Catskill, Greene County, New York. Established in 1811, it is a non-denominational rural cemetery associated with the development of Catskill’s early community. The cemetery contains the graves of local civic, military, commercial, and artistic figures, including Hudson River School founder Thomas Cole and members of his family. Its landscape and historic stones reflect the transition from colonial churchyards to the rural cemetery tradition of the 19th century.
