Description

Old Turnpike Graveyard is located in Cambridge, Washington County, New York, and is also identified in local records as Old Turnpike Cemetery. The burial ground was established near an early place of worship on the Cambridge patent, on the west side of the highway and roughly half a mile south of the Washington Academy. A county history published in 1874 described it as the “old grave yard on the turnpike” and considered it the oldest public burial lot in the original township. ([washington.nygenweb.net](https://washington.nygenweb.net/GallawayFamily.htm?utm_source=openai)) The cemetery is included among Cambridge-area burial grounds in regional cemetery indexes, while FamilySearch provides a site record for the graveyard.
