Description

Greenwood Cemetery is located at 1814 Lucas Street in Muscatine, Muscatine County, Iowa. The site began as a five-acre cemetery purchased by the Town of Bloomington in 1843 and was renamed Greenwood Cemetery in 1849. It is now a municipally owned and operated, nonprofit, nonsectarian cemetery covering approximately 80 acres. The grounds include historic memorials, a 104-niche columbarium, and the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. Burial services accommodate traditional interments, cremations, military personnel, children, and financially indigent individuals. Cemetery staff assist with genealogy and grave-location inquiries; the office is generally open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. ([muscatineiowa.gov](https://muscatineiowa.gov/170/Greenwood-Cemetery?utm_source=openai))
