Walnut Hill Cemetery – West Newbury – Essex County – United States

Walnut Hill Cemetery is located on Bachelor Street in West Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, between Middle Street and Sawmill Brook Road. The burial ground was established after the West Precinct of Newbury purchased the land in 1724; its earliest recorded gravestone dates to 1725, and the cemetery was expanded in 1800. In 1855, the West Newbury Second Parish transferred the property to the Walnut Hill Cemetery Association. The cemetery contains 18th- and 19th-century gravestones by numerous identified regional carvers, as well as a Newell family tomb dating to 1858 and a receiving tomb built in 1860.
