Union Cemetery – Columbus – Franklin County – United States

Union Cemetery is a historic cemetery at 3349 Olentangy River Road in Columbus, Ohio, just west of the Olentangy River. The site first became a burial place in 1806, when Revolutionary War veteran and Northwest Territory pioneer Balser Hess was interred on his family farm. The cemetery was formally established in 1847, and the Union Cemetery Association was created in 1878 to manage it. Today, the nonprofit cemetery covers more than 128 acres and includes traditional burial grounds, mausoleums, and a cremation scattering garden, with more than 70,000 interments.
